JAMB requires awarding institutions to directly verify presented awards before admission can be granted.

Registration Information:

During the registration process, all Direct Entry (DE) candidates are required to furnish the following details:

  1. Registration/Matriculation Number of the previous school attended where the qualification was obtained.
  2. Subject(s) of qualification.
  3. Awarding Institution.
  4. Institution actually attended.

Other Essential Direct Entry Registration and Admission Rules:

  • DE candidates not awaiting results must upload their A’level qualification, O’level results, and DE Registration Template at the registration stage.
  • Admission processing for DE candidates will only commence after the claimed results are uploaded and verified by the awarding institutions on the JAMB platform (CAPS MAIL).
  • DE candidates awaiting A’level results of UMS/UPER/NABTEB must upload their Admission Letter and Registration Template during registration.
  • Applicants with Cambridge certificates from the examination years before 2018 should directly contact Cambridge for verification. This verification process, as specified by the awarding body, may take up to 28 days. The result of the verification will be forwarded to the Board and reflected in the e-Facility profile of the DE candidate.
  • Statement of results (in lieu of a certificate) is acceptable for registration only within 3 years from the date of award.
  • The option to upgrade from UTME to DE is available exclusively to candidates whose DE results have not been released during UTME registration. These candidates must have indicated, at the time of registration, that they are awaiting A’level results and must supply the relevant particulars contained in the uploaded registration template.
  • Candidates are advised to regularly check their A’ level admission status in their e-Facility profile, where the status of verification by NIPEDS will be displayed as “CLEARED” or “NOT CLEARED” with explicit reasons for non-clearance, such as discrepancies in name, grade, subject, etc.

Additional Vital Registration Rules:

  1. Single Registration Requirement: Candidates are strictly prohibited from registering more than once. In case of any errors during the registration process, candidates should seek correction directly from the Board instead of obtaining a fresh application. Duplication of applications renders all submitted applications void.
  2. Approved Registration Centers: Registration can only be completed at JAMB-approved Centers nationwide. Candidates who register outside these approved centers do so at their own risk.
  3. Non-Candidate Transactions: Individuals other than the candidates, including parents/guardians or any proxy, are strictly prohibited from conducting any transactions on a candidate’s profile. Any candidate who shares their password, profile code, or other security codes with unauthorized persons, such as parents, friends, tutorial teachers, or fraudsters, will be held liable for any alterations made by such individuals.
  4. Order of Choice of Institutions: Candidates should note that their 1st choice can be any of the following institutions: College of Education, University, Innovation Enterprise Institution, Polytechnic/Monotechnic, Nigerian Defence Academy, or Police Academy.

Step-by-Step Procedure for the Purchase of 2024 UTME/DE Registration Documents

A. Creation of Profile:

  1. Each candidate needs a unique phone (mobile) number (SIM) for the registration process, and this number is exclusive to one candidate.
  2. Send your National Identification Number (NIN) via text (SMS) to either 55019 or 66019 from your personal GSM number. Use the format “NIN,” followed by a space and your 11-digit NIN (e.g., NIN 00123456789).
  3. Verify your data with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to ensure consistency before creating your profile, as changes in data by NIMC will be updated on JAMB records. Replaced data will be tracked and reflected as a footnote on the candidate’s profile.
  4. Receive a Profile Code of 10 characters on the same telephone (SIM) number. Returning candidates from previous years will continue to receive the same profile code on the previously used number. Note that the profile remains constant for the candidate for both current and future applications with the Board.
  5. The phone (mobile) number used for the text message is automatically tied to the candidate’s name and will be used for all communications related to each candidate’s 2024 and future applications, examinations, and admissions. Candidates must remember the SIM-number used for subsequent communication with the Board.
  6. By obtaining UTME application documents, candidates agree to receive text messages from JAMB (55019 or 66019), even when the “Do Not Disturb” (DND) mode is activated.

B. Procurement and Registration: 7. Present the profile code at the point of procurement of application documents (from Banks, MMOs, MFBs, Switches, USSD Partners). An e-PIN is then sent as a text message to the candidate’s phone.

  1. Present both the Profile code and e-PIN at any JAMB accredited CBT Centre for registration.
  2. The application cannot be completed until the candidate’s biometrics (all ten fingers) are physically captured, and a photograph is taken (no submission of a passport photograph is required). Successful capture of biometrics and photograph authorizes a candidate to print the e-registration slip. At least two fingers can be used for printing the registration slip, and fingerprint verification will be required for any further transactions with JAMB on the candidate’s profile.

C. Self Service and Restrictions: 10. Candidates who are computer-literate can register directly unaided at JAMB offices/PRCs.

  1. Group registration of candidates is strictly prohibited.
  2. Only candidates whose biometric verification is successful on the examination day will be permitted to sit for the UTME/DE. No parent or proxy is allowed to make any transactions on the candidate’s profile. Candidates with biometric challenges can only register at JAMB National Headquarters, Abuja, and arrangements for this should be made through JAMB State Offices. Candidates with biometric challenges will sit the examination in Abuja on the last day of the national examination calendar.

B. Retrieval (In Case of Mistake/Loss) of Profile Code and Self-Service

If you have misplaced or lost your Profile Code, initiate the retrieval process by sending the word [RESEND] from the same mobile number to 55019 or 66019 as a text message.

For candidates who need to reset a lost or forgotten Profile Password, perform the following steps on your registered cell phone number: send the word “PASSWORD” followed by a space and your email address to 55019 or 66019 as a text message.

C. Ticketing (Free Complaints)

For any complaints related to JAMB processes, candidates are encouraged to create a support ticket at (https://www.jamb.gov.ng) by selecting Quicklinks, then Ticket/Support, and providing their email address to the Board.

Upon creating a support ticket, candidates should furnish their name, phone number, specify the nature of the complaint, choose a complaint area from the drop-down menu, and succinctly summarize the issue. Additionally, candidates can attach supporting documents if available.

Complaints from third parties will be duly noted, and there is no need for the writing of letters. All complaints should be directed through the ticketing system for prompt attention and documentation.

For NIN-related complaints (e.g., issues with creating a profile through 55019 or 66019), candidates can follow the same process on the ticketing platform, click on “2024 NIN-related issues,” and select the appropriate topic from the drop-down menu.

The designated outlets for e-PIN sales include:

  • NIPOST
  • Banks

  • Collect payment and vend the e-PIN via SMS to the candidate’s phone (no dictation or copying)
  • Facilitate payment through POS if necessary
  • Issue evidence of payment
  • Deliver the e-PIN to candidates electronically (not handwritten)

F. Different Modes/Methods of Payment/Purchase of e-PIN for Registration

Candidates have the flexibility to choose any of the following modes/methods for payment/purchase of e-PIN for registration:

  • Banks
  • Mobile Money Operators
  • Financial Switches

G. Procedure for Registration at the Nine Foreign Centres

Registration fee for candidates from the nine foreign countries is Thirty United States Dollars ($30) in each of the 9 (nine) countries’ local currencies. Candidates from these countries should download the application documents from the Board’s website (https://www.jamb.gov.ng), complete and submit them with the fee (or pay online) at the designated centres in the country, as indicated on the website. The Nigerian Mission (Embassies) in each of the centres can be contacted for guidance on the registration and examination.

H. Donation of Free Application Documents

Any government, individual, or organization interested in distributing free application documents to potential applicants is encouraged to contact the Board at +2348027641663 or via e-mail at [email protected] for a special offer.

I. How to Recover Lost e-PIN After Payment

In the event of not receiving or losing the e-PIN, send (UTMEPIN) from the unique number to 55019 or 66019 for UTME respectively. The e-PIN will then be retrieved and delivered to the candidate’s unique phone number. Following successful payment and e-PIN acquisition, candidates should proceed to any JAMB-accredited CBT Centre to complete their registration.

J. Registration Centres

Registration is exclusively carried out at accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centres and Professional Registration Centres (PRC). Each candidate should visit any accredited CBT centre, with the list available on the Board’s website (https://www.jamb.gov.ng) and JAMB offices, along with their profile code and e-PIN. Facilities for self-service are available in ALL JAMB State Offices for candidates with proficient digital skills.

K. Concluding the Registration Process at CBT Centres

Candidates must PERSONALLY present their Profile Code and e-PIN at any JAMB-accredited CBT Centre for registration. At the CBT centre, the candidate’s photograph and biometrics (all ten fingerprints) will be captured. It’s important for candidates to note the following:

  • Centre and bank charges of N2,700/N4,200 respectively are included in the total fee paid for the pin, which JAMB remits to the centres. Therefore, no other fee should be paid at the centre.
  • Candidates are required to provide information on their choice of institutions and programmes (course of study), a valid and accessible personal e-mail address, qualifications with grades and dates (upload relevant certificates if not awaiting results), O/L and/or A/L grades, and UTME subjects and choice of examination town(s) for the Mock examination and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • Candidates awaiting results should upload them online on the JAMB portal as soon as available. No recommendations from any institution will be considered if the candidate does not upload their result on the JAMB portal. No institution is allowed to take a new picture/photograph, biometrics, or require any other result upload. All results are downloadable by institutions from the Board’s website, and the download is tracked to prevent abuse.
  • Candidates should review entries and confirm correctness before printing the Registration Slip using biometric authentication to confirm a valid fingerprint for both UTME and DE. Authentication with the fingerprint removes blame for errors from CBT centres, and candidates should check before confirming with their fingerprint.

L. Inclusivity for Candidates with Disabilities

To ensure inclusivity, candidates falling under the following categories are requested to indicate their disability for special attention:

  1. Blind Candidates:
    • Blind candidates should indicate their status by typing BLIND and selecting the preferred examination format, which could be through Braille, Recorded, or Read Aloud.
    • Every blind candidate is required to choose the designated town closest to their residence for the examination.
  2. Deaf/Mute Candidates:
    • Special indicators have been created for the deaf/mute to identify them for special attention during the examination.
    • Deaf candidates are required to confirm their status appropriately during the registration process.
  3. Others:
    • Candidates with Albinism, Down Syndrome, Autism, Dyslexia, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are requested to indicate their condition by selecting the appropriate box.
    • This information will help in identifying and assigning candidates to the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) for special attention.

P. BIOMETRIC CHALLENGES

Candidates with biometric challenges or abnormalities are subject to the following conditions:

  1. Registration:
    • Candidates with biometric challenges can only register at JAMB National Headquarters in Abuja. No other CBT centre is permitted to register such candidates.
  2. Examination:
    • Candidates with biometric challenges will sit their examination at JAMB National Headquarters in Abuja. The examination date will be on the last day of the national examination calendar.
  3. Verification:
    • Candidates must have their biometrics verified before entering the examination hall or sitting the examination. The system will not permit or process any examination without biometric verification.
  4. Travel:
    • The Board will facilitate travel arrangements for candidates with biometric challenges or abnormalities.

APTITUDE TEST FOR DE CANDIDATES

The Board has introduced an Aptitude Test for Direct Entry (DE) candidates starting from the 2024 Admission Year. The dates of the Aptitude test will be communicated later, and the venue of the test will be any center in the candidate’s chosen examination town.

DATES AND VENUE FOR THE 2024 UNIFIED TERTIARY MATRICULATION EXAMINATION

The 2024 UTME is scheduled to commence on Friday, 19 April, 2024, and conclude on Monday, 29 April, 2024, across all nine foreign centers. The examination venue will be at any center in the candidate’s selected examination town.

To prepare for the exam, candidates are strongly advised to download the 2024 JAMB CBT software or the 2024 JAMB CBT Mobile App. Additionally, candidates should familiarize themselves with the CBT environment and cover JAMB Past questions.

Candidates can benefit from joining the Gurustab WhatsApp group, where JAMB 2024 candidates or prospective students of a specific school can ask questions, share concerns, and receive instant answers. To join, click here.

Note: JAMB does not assign any candidate to an examination town other than the one chosen during registration. However, candidates are urged to register promptly before available spaces in their town of choice or group of towns are exhausted. Due to proven cases of collusion among some CBT centers, no examination town with fewer than four centers is allowed, leading to the merger of several towns. Choosing a group of towns implies potential posting to any town within the selected group.

REGISTRATION FEE/PROCUREMENT OF REGISTRATION E-PINs

For the 2024 UTME/DE, candidates must pay either a total of six thousand, two hundred naira (N6,200) only if not sitting the optional Mock-UTME. Candidates intending to sit the Mock-UTME are required to pay seven thousand, seven hundred naira (N7,700) only. The application fee for candidates from the nine foreign centers is $30.

E-PINS purchased are tied to individual profiles and are not transferable. Candidates are advised to keep their security details, such as registration numbers, passwords/ATM card numbers, email addresses, and e-PINS, private and confidential. No center is authorized to request or accept a candidate’s password.

OPTIONAL MOCK-UTME

The Board will conduct a Mock-UTME in all accredited CBT centers to prepare and familiarize interested candidates with the CBT environment. Candidates interested in the Mock-UTME are advised to indicate their interest during registration, provided they register early enough. The mock examination is scheduled for Thursday, 7th March, 2024.

General Information

Registration: All candidates must mandatorily register their profiles through text messages before proceeding to buy the e-PIN. The registration fee is non-refundable.

Guidelines: Candidates should read and understand the various guidelines on admission and the set of instructions shown on the scan QR Code on how to complete the online registration before commencing the process. They are also required to sign an MoU on ethical standards.

Multiple registrations: Multiple registrations are not permitted. Candidates registering more than once will be identified, disqualified, and prosecuted.

Examination center: Candidates and officials are not allowed to enter the examination center with earphones, wristwatches, mobile phones, electronic devices, or any pen/biro. Only pencils are allowed.

CBT centers: The Board does not require nor authorize the services of any cybercafé, school, or establishment other than its accredited CBT centers for this exercise.

Examination malpractice: Examination malpractice is a criminal offense that, in addition to result cancellation, attracts the publication of names and prosecution of offenders.

Regularization: NO REGULARIZATION OF ILLEGAL ADMISSION. All admission offered by institutions MUST be from JAMB’s website. Admission offered without JAMB Admission letter is illegal and null. Candidates accepting admission outside CAPS do so at their own risk, as the Board will not recognize or regularize such admission.

Candidates are encouraged to initiate their exam preparations using either the Studentclass JAMB CBT Mobile App designed for Android phones or the Studentclass JAMB CBT Software compatible with computer systems. Both resources encompass an extensive database of over 60,000 JAMB past questions and answers, facilitating comprehensive readiness for the upcoming exam. As an additional support platform, candidates are recommended to participate in the Studentclass WhatsApp group, where JAMB 2024 candidates or potential students of a specific school can engage in discussions, pose questions, share concerns, and promptly receive answers.
