This announcement serves to notify the public and prospective candidates that the registration for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates – first series, has begun. The registration fee for the exam is currently set at N27,000. The sale of registration pins will conclude on January 22nd, 2024. Kindly review all the information on this page thoroughly to ensure a successful registration for the 2024 GCE.
EXAMINATION REGISTRATION DETAILS:
The registration process for the WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2024 – first Series, will be conducted online. Upon obtaining the Registration PIN, candidates are required to visit www.waeconline.org.ng for the registration process. It’s essential to be aware that the registration procedure includes provisions for capturing biometric features, which will be utilized for validation at the examination centers.
The examination is scheduled to take place from January 31st to February 17th, 2024. A mock examination is set for January 23rd and 24th, 2024, at all registered CBT centers for the WASSCE for private candidates, 2024 First Series.
Additionally, candidates are advised that all WAEC Past Questions, including both objective and theory sections, along with their solutions and answers, are now accessible online. It’s important to note that this marks the first occasion where WAEC is implementing Computer-Based Testing (CBT).
REGISTRATION PERIOD:
The regular registration period spans from Monday, December 18th, and concludes on January 22nd, 2024. The deadline for the generation of PINs is Friday, January 19, while the overall registration ends on Monday, January 22, 2024.
MODE OF PAYMENT:
Candidates are required to pay a registration fee of Twenty-Seven Thousand Naira (N27,000) only at branches of any of the following banks or accredited agents to obtain the Registration PIN and information VCD:

WALK-IN CANDIDATES:
Individuals desiring to register for the examination after the official entry deadline may be accommodated as “Walk-in Candidates” provided they complete their registration no later than twenty-four hours before the scheduled time of the paper(s) they intend to write. The fee for “Walk-in Candidates” is Forty-Five Thousand Naira (N45,000.00) only.
CANDIDATES WITH SPECIAL NEEDS:
Candidates with special needs will follow the online registration process like other candidates but must explicitly indicate their impairments, such as Visual, Low vision, Spastic, Speech, Hard of hearing, etc.
WHERE TO REGISTER:
Candidates can visit accredited banks, cyber cafes, WAEC offices, and “WAEC REGISTRATION POINTS” closest to them for PIN purchase and registration.
COMPLETION OF REGISTRATION:
Candidates are required to complete their registration within two weeks of first access to the website during the registration period. It is imperative that they verify the accuracy of their names, gender, passport photographs, dates of birth, and chosen subjects. Additionally, candidates should print the Admission Notice as evidence of successful registration, serving as identification during the examination. The Result Checker PIN will also be provided on the Admission Notice. The acceptable fingerprint scanner is the UareU digitalPersona fingerprint device.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The examination will be conducted as a computer-based test. The objective papers will be entirely CBT, while the essay and practical examinations will be a hybrid format where questions will be displayed on the screen, and candidates will record their answers on paper.
There will be an online Mock examination for interested candidates who have registered for the examination and wish to familiarize themselves with the testing environment. The date and modalities for the mock will be communicated to candidates via SMS, emails, and all social media platforms.
Candidates must be aware that the registration fee is non-refundable. Other important points to note include:
- Candidates should regularly check the website for the examination timetable.
- Entries must be uploaded with passport photographs captured using a digital camera with specifications of Microsoft HD 3000. The photographs must be of good quality in black & white or color (JPEG File only, 275 by 314 pixels with 72 dpi resolution), with a contrasting background and no obstructive items. Submission of a defaced or poor-quality photograph will automatically invalidate the candidate’s entry.
- Candidates should study the Regulations and Syllabuses for the examination, which can be downloaded from the WAEC website (www.waeconline.org.ng) using the Registration PIN.
- Candidates must go to examination halls dressed in mufti and without arms. No professional uniform of any kind will be allowed in the examination halls.
- The entire results of candidates who sit for the examination in more than one center will be canceled.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited in the examination hall.
- Candidates entering the examination hall with mobile phones and/or any other electronic gadgets will have their entire results canceled.
- Candidates must ensure the accuracy of their entries before uploading, as the Council will not be held responsible for errors in candidates’ particulars. Requests for amendments will not be entertained for information voluntarily given by a candidate at the point of registration.
- Candidates must bring their original Admission Notice into the examination hall.
- Candidates engaging in examination malpractice will not only have their results canceled but may also face prosecution.
- Candidates must provide valid email and telephone number(s) during registration.
