The 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has officially commenced, and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a public announcement, urging candidates to initiate the process of generating their profile codes. This marks a crucial step in the registration procedure for the upcoming UTME.
Generating a profile code is typically one of the preliminary steps candidates need to undertake before they can register for the UTME. This code serves as a unique identifier for each candidate throughout the registration process. The announcement from JAMB signals that the board is ready to facilitate and streamline the registration process for prospective candidates.
Candidates are advised to promptly engage in the generation of their profile codes to ensure a smooth and timely registration experience. This announcement is significant as it sets the tone for the commencement of the UTME registration period, indicating that the board is prepared to assist and guide candidates through the necessary steps leading to their participation in the examination.
Aspiring candidates should stay informed and follow the guidelines provided by JAMB to ensure that they complete the registration process within the stipulated timeframe. The announcement reflects the proactive approach of JAMB in ensuring a well-organized and efficient conduct of the 2024 UTME, benefiting both the candidates and the examination process as a whole.
This guidance was shared in a statement released to JAMBulletin as part of the preparations for the upcoming commencement of the 2024 UTME registration, set to begin in the next few weeks.
The Board strongly recommends that candidates acquire their National Identification Number (NIN), a prerequisite for UTME/DE registration. Guidelines on obtaining your NIN have been provided in a previous post titled “NIN Application Guidelines and Requirements for JAMB 2024 Candidates.”
As outlined in the statement, candidates should generate their profile codes by sending their NIN (with one space) and their eleven-digit NIN number via text (SMS) to either 55019 or 66019 from their personal GSM number. For instance, the SMS should be in the format: “NIN 12345678901” (without quotation marks), and it should be sent to 55019 or 66019. It’s crucial that “12345678901” is the candidate’s own NIN.
Upon sending this message, candidates will receive a ten-character profile code on the same telephone number. Candidates are advised to take note that the phone number used for the text message is automatically linked to their respective names and will be used by the Board for all communications related to the application, examination, and admission processes.
For prospective candidates of the 2024 UTME, early preparation is key. Download the JAMB CBT Mobile app and JAMB CBT software, both of which provide instant notifications for important updates from JAMB and aid in UTME preparations.
Additionally, candidates are strongly warned against using henna, also known as “Laali” or “Lale,” and should avoid biometric verification challenges. It has been observed that the application of henna on fingers obstructs the biometric verification process. Attempts by candidates to clean henna designs with chemicals have damaged the whorls on their fingers, making biometric verification and authentication difficult, if not impossible.
